Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Doing Our Part to Bring "M" Home

Our mission here at The Orange Bird says this:

To "think outside the nest" and show God's love to others by using our God given creativity to make and sell things in order to generate profits to support organizations and individuals who are serving those in need around the world.

So when we found out that our Instagram friend, Anna, and her family are raising money to adopt an orphan living in Uganda, we were brainstorming ways to help them out! An orphan in need of a family certainly qualified for one in need!
{Anna and "M" from her @simplybeautiful100 photo feed on Instagram}

 Birdie and I tossed around a few ideas and came up with the idea to send Anna some of our goodies to auction or sell on IG. But, as God often works, we didn't have the whole picture! Soon after we decided to do it, Anna posted a pic on IG and asked if anyone would be interested in helping them have an auction by donating items to auctioned!  I commented, "YES! Birdie and I have been planning to email you about doing this even before this!! Yay!! We are in to donate!!" So we were able to confirm her plans! She had been praying about it for the week before, even as we had been moved to help her! As Anna said..."What a God thing!!"

We were able to donate the following 3 auction listings (along with a bunch of other people donating items)! It was amazing how things came together! The bracelets were donated to The Orange Bird Shop by a sweet friend who makes them. {If you love them, there are more listed in the shop right now!!}

The straws were on clearance at Joann Fabric. At the time, I didn't know why I felt compelled to buy them. Now I understand! Birdie made the crochet washcloths. If you want a set for yourself, they are listed in The Shop, as well!

The book was donated to us by a friend who has been a huge supporter of our efforts with The Orange Bird! She is one of our chief cheerleaders! She felt led to donate some copies of One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp to use at our discretion as the Spirit led! Little did we all know, He had a plan there, too!

Birdie and I feel immensely blessed to be able to be a part of God's work to bring "M" home to his family! We are so excited to serve a God that allows us to work in cooperation with other faith family members to get things accomplished!!

Speaking of accomplishing things...Anna had a set an amount of money as a goal that she hoped the auction would bring in. Wouldn't you know it, her goal was DOUBLED! When God moves, things get done!

{If you would like to donate towards bringing "M" home, please contact us at theorangebird2@yahoo.com and we will connect you with Anna!}
