Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

New Design Inspiration

Birdie here...

I've had some ideas rolling around in the back of my head. Whether it's training my kiddos, growing in my relationship with Jesus, loving my husband, or creating something new... I'm learning  to be patient with that process until it's time to "do".

We'd been talking for awhile about revamping our original wallet again and I've been reading lots of tutorials and making sketches to put in perks that you would find handy. I love tutorials, I love the evidence that we all come from a single  Creator and it's evident in the ideas He blesses us with.  After several Skype sessions with DW we had some ideas on the table and the measuring, cutting, and sewing began...

I carried the "Nice Try/Try Again" wallet for about a week. I wasn't a fan, it was just a bit too long, didn't fit in my bag well, and I found it awkward to locate things quickly. Next up was what we eventually settled on, the "New Design". The afternoon I put the finishing touches on the prototype, my friend Kathy came by to hang out for a bit...

I have to take a little time here and tell you about this beautiful friend.  You won't find her in the blog world, social media is not her style.  She has taught 5th grade for over 25 years at a local public school and is such an inspiration to me. She stays at this position though there has been opportunity for advancement to more prominent positions in less economically challenged areas. I have seen her time and again go above and beyond with her time and personal resources to make sure the kids in her class have what they need.  She is a natural at nurturing and doesn't hold back when Jesus tells her to do something. When someone needs help, her immediate response is, "What can I do?" or "What do you need?"

So...that afternoon when she came over, I showed her what I'd been up too.  She had been using our original design for some time and found it to be super handy, so we laid out all three designs on the table and started comparing...

She agreed that "Nice Try/Try again" was just a little awkward, but loved the addition of the zippered coin pocket on "New Design" ....

and she thought the wristlet strap would come in handy...

I gave her the prototype to use for a week to see how it all held up.  She has declared it to be a winner! It is just a tad bigger than our original and she couldn't believe how much it held: cell phone, over a dozen cards, cash, change, tissues, a notepad, medication...you can even slip your checkbook in if you remove the cover.

So here it is...we are pleased to present the "New Design" as "Wristlet Wallet" now listed in the shop we hope you love it!!! There are still a few of the originals left in stock and we will be adding some different fabric variations of "Wristlet Wallet" throughout the summer.

Thank you sweet friend for your example of service to "the least of these", love you bunches!
