Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

More on James 1:27

Friends, we need to share some more about James 1:27 with you. We have focused a lot on Francesca and her family because that is our particular project but James 1:27 does SO much more.

Meshach and Elizabeth are feet on the ground for The James 1:27 Project in Kenya. They have such a heart for the widows and orphans in the remote villages of Machakos.  They were fortunate to receive support to continue with their schooling and finish college and now they are passionate about giving others a hand up. They live on a very small budget and are working towards becoming self-sustaining in their housing and expenses so that they can help others even more!

We find it hard to even imagine the living conditions there. They have limited access to clean water, food, education, medical care and suitable housing. They want a better life, but better was nowhere to be found...until  The James 1:27 Project came into existence last year! They are helping to build community. They are providing food for the hungry and then teaching them to grow it and raise it. They are caring about children who do not have their basic needs met and getting sponsors to help these kid have food in their bellies, water for their thirst, a roof over their heads and an education for their future! They are giving hope to hopeless widows (many with children to support). They are caring for their physical needs and also their emotional and spiritual needs. They are indeed loving them with Jesus' love. We can't even fathom how big the needs are.

We love being able to play a small part in supporting the work of The James 1:27 Project but we also want to ask you all to consider something. The Orange Bird was never supposed to be about us. It is only a tool to help in God's work around the world. So, we feel it is imperative to tell you that we would be just as happy (if not happier) if you skipped us all together and donated directly to The James 1:27 Project. The end of the year finds people looking for opportunities to donate to charitable organizations and as Christmas approaches, we would ask you to consider either giving a one time donation or sponsoring another child into The James 1:27 Project! What a birthday gift to the King of Kings to care for one of his hurting little ones.

If you would like to donate directly here is the address:
Calvary Chapel Cool Waters  (write check to Calvary Chapel Cool Waters and specify James 1:27)
Attention: Kathi Ritter
2609 NW 161 St.
Edmond, OK 73013

If you would like to sponsor a child, the suggested amount per month is $50. You can simply choose one of the children from the photos below, write a check for $50 send it to the address above with a note to Kathi Ritter stating the name of the child that you would like to start sponsoring and your email address. She will put your name on the James 1:27 Project email list (so you can receive updates once a month) and send you a tax receipt at the end of the year! It is as easy as that!
