Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Just a quick note...

to tell you that Birdie's dad and his friends made it home safe and sound! Thanks for praying for them while they were in Africa! We can't wait until he shares with us about all the things he saw and did in Kenya, but first I guess we'll let him catch a few winks!

In the meantime, we wanted to share part of an email we received from the nurse's wife while he was gone with the guys to Africa...

As I fell into bed last night it seemed extremely large and lonely. So I prayed, as I have since my husband and his buds left for Africa. I really haven't had a lot of fear or apprehension about this trip, but have had some moments where I have had to "take my thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ." It's in those moments where I have to reaffirm to myself that I am His, as is my husband. We belong to Him. The Phillips Modern English renders 1 Peter 5:7 "You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for you are His personal concern." No matter what happens here or in Africa- God is aware and we are His personal concern, so I can throw it all on Him. I do believe he is far more capable than I!

Did you catch that?
"YOU can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for YOU are HIS PERSONAL CONCERN."

Whether you are worried about a relationship, a loved one's bad health, distance that separates, or anything else, YOU, Dear One, are His (the God of the Universe's) personal concern. I don't know about you, but I find that to be utterly comforting. Are you anxious about something? Start talking. He's listening.

(We have no doubt that God heard a woman in Kenya when she told Him that she needed a new home for her and her 2 sons and now He is using two chicks with a little online store and willing hands to answer her prayer! He loves her and he loves you, too.)

Blessings and Peace,
DW
