Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

James 1:27

We are excited to share with all of you that we will be supporting The James 1:27 Project. This project is very near and dear to our hearts! We will be sharing with you about the wonderful things that they do in Kenya, but for now, read about why it is especially dear to Birdie's heart today...

Birdie here,

My Dad is going to Africa today.  He is headed out with some of his Brother's in Christ.  Their group is comprised of an Oklahoma rancher, a male nurse, and a business man.  Way different walks of life and  they really only have one thing in common...a personal relationship with Jesus.  They are just guys who make it way of life to walk in humility and obedience, they invest their time in people because they are committed to discipleship.  They have no special "professional" seminary training, nothing that would cause this world to sit up and take notice particularly about what they are doing.  Just some guys who responded when the Holy Spirit asked them to go.

The plan is to purchase a vehicle with funds entrusted to them and deliver it out to the village where James 1:27 (the mission we are currently supporting here a The Orange Bird)  is taking place.  While there, they will be teaching the widows and orphans from the book of John.

So, my Dad is going to Africa today.  He is not an adventurer, in fact he went two years ago and the trip impacted him profoundly not in a "I want to sell everything and go there to live" kind of way,  but in a "I am so very grateful for how God has blessed us here" kind of way.   When I asked if he would go again, his answer was,  "Not unless He tells me to."  So, I was surprised a couple of months ago when he told us his plans.

My Dad is going to Africa today, Lord Jesus, bless the obedience of "Rancher", "Nurse", and "Businessman".  May you multiply their words and deeds to advance your Kingdom.  Colossians 1:28-29 "So everywhere we go, we tell everyone about Christ.  We warn them and teach them with all the wisdom God has given us for we want to present them perfect to God in their relationship to Christ.  I work very hard at this as I depend on the power of Christ which works so mightily within me."

  1. I have a lump in my throat reading this post. May God bless your Dad and those going with him in ways way beyond what they can ask or think! Thank you and DW for responding to God's call to start Orange Bird and help support the work. I pray that God continues to grow and bless you both.
