Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Birdie here,

So we've been busy making our new Crocheted Cuff Bracelets here at Orange Bird...

This project includes vintage buttons... and we were experiencing a shortage of  buttons.  DW and I had already scoured both of our stashes and we were coming up short.
We are always looking for super frugal supplies and I knew the local antique shop's prices tended to be a little high.   This week I found myself downtown driving by this little shop and felt the nudge to check in and see what they had.  So with this breath prayer "Lord, direct my steps and let this be only of You"...I pulled into a spot.
The proprieter met me at the door..now let me tell you this place is packed...I can not exaggerate this enough here.  Piles and piles upon piles of treasures everywhere but that gal can put her finger RIGHT on what you ask for.  Sure, enough, she brought out two tubs of buttons and gave me a cup to gather the ones I fancied.
The price she gave me was per button and I knew I had WAY more in my little cup than I could buy with a clear conscience, you know the feeling right?  But I could not stop pulling the most lovely, unique, metal buttons out of these tubs. "Only what is of you Lord, only what is of You".  People that know me, know that I get carried away when shopping, I look too long and I pile on too much.  But this experience was different, I suddenly just knew...that's enough. "What," I asked?  "That's enough," the quiet voice whispered.  "Ah right", and I made my way up to the front register.  She was waiting for me, we had a "divine appointment" I'm pretty sure, as DW likes to say.
Tentatively I handed over my cup, "I'm pretty sure I've got more than I can afford here."
She smiled and said "Let me make you a deal..." and she quoted me an insanely low price...like an "only from You, Lord...only from You", kind of price.  Jesus and I, we walked away with blessed buttons...

It's a little thing I know, but all those little things together that He does throughout my day when I take the time to be aware and chat with Him about...they add up to my KNOWING that He is able.  It was such a blessed reminder to me of what we are about here, Kingdom Bussiness...thank you Lord for the buttons...

P.S. Pixie (one of my chickadees at home) polished every single button for me and asked me next time I went button hunting to be sure and take her with me...

  1. So gracious is our God...I wish now that I had written down each time something similar has happened to me. God's provision is SO incredible and He is SO generous. Thanks, Birdie for sharing this testimony!
